You would think that a job like "Home Theater Installer" wouldn't be in the "high risk" category of occupations. But I suppose any job where you are handling tools and pointy things carries some amount of risk with it. This afternoon, my husband managed to whack himself in the eye area with a pair of needle-nosed pliers (stripping/shaping a fish tape, apparently), and he looks like someone punched him with a skull ring. At least he didn't damage the eye itself, and he seems OK, except for the headache and the inevitable foolish feeling one gets when one slips with a tool and hurts oneself.

He's going to have one heck of a shiner in a day or 2.

You're reminding me that I'm not going to get to help with build this year, since I'm a rank newbie and will be in workshops every week... unless I can swing skimping on the accent ones (being as my native accent is very close to BFA), or the build carries on late, which it could well...

Ow. Thank the Fates for small non-eye-gouging favors. If he's going to get all klutzy, he's going to have to think about safety gear.

Tell everyone you hit him--it'll save all the denials that no one will believe anyway. :-D

Outch....

Poor him.
I hope it won't scare his customers, and that he feels better real soon!

Is he watching the [livejournal.com profile] nin_man DIY channel? I guess that's why there is a segment of the economy devoted to installing electronics for people, not that any of US would use such a service.

Have him practice saying, "You should see what the OTHER guy looks like," in reply to those who ask who beat him up.

I'm actually trying to get him to say that on his MySpace page (that's his only blog-like thing), and then post a photo of a pair of needle-nosed pliers :P

That would have been such a good AFV moment, eh?
