Off To Work
Feb. 11th, 2008 07:30 amIt's funny that the first 2 song snippets to enter my mind had to do with mining - the Dwarves' Working Song (from Snow White), and the Devo version of "Working in a Coal Mine" that was used in the Heavy Metal film soundtrack.
I'm not convinced I'll have a computer today, much less the ability to surf the net for personal stuff, and I have no idea what I'm going to be feeling like after a full day of work back in an office. At least my clothes are relatively comfortable.
And another era of freelancing from the home office in the fuzzy slippers comes to a close.
See you all on the flip side.
EDIT: I'm feeling much better about this whole gig. The company is very efficient which is a really refreshing change - I was badged and laptopped by 3PM, and I'll probably have my specific software loaded tomorrow, so I can actually get some useful work done. And there is the possibility of the occasional telecommuting, and it sounds like one of my teammates works from home on a semi regular basis (like 1 day a week or something). If I can manage that, I could actually be happy here. And the other female tech writer in my group knits (and does incredible work, too, from the cabled cardigan she had on), and we have other things in common, too.
BTW, they are still looking to fill 30 or so positions, so if you live in Central NJ and have tech skills (or accounting skills) and are looking for something, shoot me an email.
Now if I can only get all my bills straightened out...
