And while we're on the subject...
Feb. 14th, 2008 08:52 pmI want the head of the idiot(s) who decided it was a good decision to completely redo the concept of "menu" and toolbars in Office 2007? And who the fuck decided that Mystery Meat navigation would be a good thing in the ubiquitous Microsoft Office?
Putting all the functions that used to be under the "File" menu underneath the glowy gold circle with the MS office logo du jour is NOT ACCEPTABLE. YOU ARE JUST WASTING OUR TIME!
Office 2007 feels like you've hired a cleaning crew to clean your house. They made it all clean and neat and shiny, but they put everything away in a different place and they didn't tell you where anything was before they left, and now they're not answering your calls.
The only thing that would make this experience worse is if Clippy came back and said "I see you're cursing at the screen. Can I help you with that?"
I should be thanking all the Gods that my new work laptop isn't running Vista...

Date: 2008-02-15 05:28 am (UTC)I have 10 licenses for office 2007 in my desk - I'm *not* giving them out to anyone at the office...I will protect them!!
The only good thing I've heard so far about office 2007 is that Excel has finally increased the maximum number of rows in a spreadsheet above 64k
Wow! That takes the list of useful features up to...
Date: 2008-02-15 08:00 am (UTC)To be honest, I think MS Office 2007 is one of the best things Microsoft could have done...
...to force the majority of users into a different Office suite.

Date: 2008-02-15 08:18 am (UTC)Yeah, I'm glad to see that I'm not alone. Have you run into the file limit yet. "Djinn", my book, and its sequels, is 300+ pages and 100,000+ words. 90,000 words is considered minimum for a commercially viable novel. I can't load such a book into Office07. Ergo, I'm still working in Office00, on my old workstation. Shit, we knew how to do infinite files since Wordstar! What genius thought that would be a good idea?
My new HP laptop is running Vista Ultimate.
