I want the head of the idiot(s) who decided it was a good decision to completely redo the concept of "menu" and toolbars in Office 2007? And who the fuck decided that Mystery Meat navigation would be a good thing in the ubiquitous Microsoft Office?

Putting all the functions that used to be under the "File" menu underneath the glowy gold circle with the MS office logo du jour is NOT ACCEPTABLE. YOU ARE JUST WASTING OUR TIME!

Office 2007 feels like you've hired a cleaning crew to clean your house. They made it all clean and neat and shiny, but they put everything away in a different place and they didn't tell you where anything was before they left, and now they're not answering your calls.

The only thing that would make this experience worse is if Clippy came back and said "I see you're cursing at the screen. Can I help you with that?"

I should be thanking all the Gods that my new work laptop isn't running Vista...

Welcome to my world. Just in the last two weeks my (l)users have been flooded with Word documents in 2007 format. We aren't going to 07 any time in the immediate future so me and the senior administrators are stuck passing out converters.

That sort of crap is what leaves me wanting heads on platters. I truly detest anything that assumes everyone has the latest, greatest, shiniest foozle (and yes, this does mean I detest most recent games; I've pretty much given up on anything released later than about '01, and even then I've not got the hardware for a lot of them)

I heard a rumor that even Redmond wasn't using Vista. :-D

You don't love the "ribbon"?

I have 10 licenses for office 2007 in my desk - I'm *not* giving them out to anyone at the office...I will protect them!!

The only good thing I've heard so far about office 2007 is that Excel has finally increased the maximum number of rows in a spreadsheet above 64k

One.

To be honest, I think MS Office 2007 is one of the best things Microsoft could have done...

...to force the majority of users into a different Office suite.

[livejournal.com profile] tomo2k:Yeah but What New Office Suite? It's not StarOffice!

Yeah, I'm glad to see that I'm not alone. Have you run into the file limit yet. "Djinn", my book, and its sequels, is 300+ pages and 100,000+ words. 90,000 words is considered minimum for a commercially viable novel. I can't load such a book into Office07. Ergo, I'm still working in Office00, on my old workstation. Shit, we knew how to do infinite files since Wordstar! What genius thought that would be a good idea?

My new HP laptop is running Vista Ultimate.

I use Adobe FrameMaker for any book larger than 100 pages.

I now know why my Mother used WordPerfect for all her manuscripts.

Oooh I am with you there.

I have been trialling the new version for the company and I have to say that I hate it with all my hate. It's vile - not user-friendly AT ALL IN ANY WAY. I have asked to go back to Office 2003. *checks* YAY! It's back and I can work again in a normal fashion, woohoo!

I will join you in your loathing... *loathes MS Orifice 2007*

in town, the YWCA nneds a secretary. I have all the orginisational and computer skills for it. But one, I'm the wrong gender, and two, they do use 07. I'll be putting that in if this attempt fails.

Also saturating everything in the mall and most other metro centers.

But back to topic, I'm taking this as advice to remember if i get that.
