Finished quilts (no pics yet)

girlx512, and my 2 Quilts for Kids quilts (blogged about here) . Last night, I had him deliver the baby quilt for the Tricky Tray auction at the high school to the "wrapping party" which I didn't attend, as I was busy sewing.
I am supposed to be sewing costumes for "Arsenic & Old Lace" and I have a lot of thrift store clothes to alter/turn into proper costumes, but I'm not feeling inspired. Maybe because the director wants to stage it in period, which makes it post-WW2 Brooklyn, which is not an era that I'm enamored of, costume-wise. The sucky thing has been that thrift stores don't carry clothes that old anymore. All the "vintage" stuff is from the 1980's, and it's fugly. And men's clothing in the 20th century is just plain BORING. I'm not feeling as connected with this production as the Shakespeare one last year - the new teachers aren't holding weekly production meetings, and it's just not the same. I don't know that I can get out of this commitment for next year, but I will have to be more organized and get other people to do more work. The problem now is that we're less than 3 weeks to the opening., and only 2 weekends between then and now, and I hope that the other volunteers have some time available to help me... I've never altered men's suits before. This will be fun.
Instead of working on the costumes for the play, I was making the "fabric" for a custom-ordered Messenger Bag (from my "patron" who's spent a lot of money on my textile stuff to date). That was way more satisfying last night, and I'm going to hate cutting it up to make the bag. On the positive side of this, I only used 16 of the 40 strips from the Bali Pops set that I ordered, so I can make another bargello or 2 from that. This time, I started documenting the process with photographs (not quite from the beginning) so that I can write instructions. Possibly for sale or to give away - I don't know yet.
I still need to add about 4 inches to the height in order for it to be the right size to make the bag, but it's turning out nicely.
