Last night was the Central NJ InDesign User's Group meeting at some vocational college near Rutgers and DeVry. There is road construction on the main highway/access road to the campus going on there right now. I hadn't been down that way in a very long time, so I didn't know, and was in the wrong lane at the first pass and drove past it. Then I played a lot of "you can't get there from here" because it's on the southbound side of a divided highway with very long stretches between turn-around points. But I was determined to get there and I finally found the building and the cafeteria, where the meeting was being held.

I think the group is sponsored by Adobe, and the brother/sister training team that run the meeting are very good presenters. I was too late for the pizza, however.  The reason I finally went to the meeting was because they were showing some of the new spiffy features in Illustrator and Photoshop CS5; both of which I use way more than InDesign at the moment.

Now I really want to upgrade my software! I will start with Illusrator: the perspective drawing tools that are now available are accurate and really powerful. I had to do some 2-point perspective drawings recently, and they took me days to complete, and I wasn't completely happy with them when I was done. Using this tool, It would take me about an hour to make the same drawing.
