Updateyness
Jun. 13th, 2011 09:11 amWell I'm almost halfway through the month, and I've been keeping up with the 30 days of creativity challenge. Blog posts here, and if you just want to see pictures, you can check out this Pintrest board (I actually really like this photo bookmarking service - it's great to keep track of image searches one does for inspiration and research).
I've made 2 quilts in 10 days. Which means my house is a disaster area. I'm off to the dentist in about 15 minutes for my regular tooth-scraping, and then some errands.
I need to put the cats aside (if you checked out the 30 days links, you'll see the cat designs I've been working on) for a while and get busy with my Hoffman challenge quilt, or I'm going to miss this year like I've missed the past 3 years I've been meaning to enter the contest. I should do a quilt with a few years worth of challenge fabrics and call it "Procrastination" or "Missed Opportunities" - and not explain the joke. Problem is that I don't want to post the Hoffman stuff on a public forum until after the contest entry time is closed, so I'd have to do "double" work.
I've decided to take a month of 4-day weekends for my "vacation" this year - since we can't afford to travel (again!), and July has 5 full weekends this year. It also spreads the pain of the reduced earnings out over the entire month, so I'm still getting something every 2 weeks. R really needs to get some income coming in. I am completely grateful to my past self for using a large chunk of my inheritance to refinance the house so we can carry the mortgage on one paycheck. I guess I was a bit prescient there. (I also got a 15-year mortgage, timing it so it will be paid off by the time I turn 65. Then I only have to pay the insanely high property taxes. Which are still less than renting an apartment.).
I'll be blogging the quilts later today, probably, on my quilt blog... Stay tuned.
