So I'm High Priestess at our coven's open Full Moon tonight. The ritual went pretty well for a Mercury Retrograde circle - we were locked out of the UU church for the first hour, and I felt very scattered until right beforehand. But that's not the freaky bit.

Two of our coven brothers announced they were going to leave the coven about 3 weeks ago. This really bummed me out, as I really like them and their energy, and I never really got to do much magick with them, because they have been on sabattical for a while, besides. So they haven't been doing much with the coven for a while in any case, but still...

Anyway, one of these guys made a lot of our altar tools, and both of them are "Kore" (sort of like Deacons, in a Christian church, or "elders" - and they and the other Kore memebers of the coven are all ordained minsterial types.) Right now we're down to 2 Kore members, and one is on "working sabbatical" (reduced duties). One of these 2 was my Altar Attendant for the ritual and was packing up the altar afterwards. She fumbled the "fire candle holder" (a nice blue handmade ceramic candle holder) and it fell on the floor and broke into a hundred pieces. It was made by one of the departing coven members.

Up until now, he has left and returned a few times over the past 3 years. This time, I think it's final. She gathered up all the pieces and I think plans to use it at a parting ritual for the Kore members that are leaving.

I'm just in a state of shock about the whole incident and it's implications.

The ritual itself was quite fun and it appeared as if everyone enjoyed themselves. I hope the magick has its proper effect (we charged tokens to help people find their center in the midst of chaos and enables them to figure out the proper action to take and then to take that action -- I figured that's a good ritual for the Thunder Moon during a retrograde Mercury). But I have to make a note to not work with the Norse pantheon in July... I have never felt so hot and sweaty as I did tonight (and it was warm, but not THAT warm). I think Frigga and Thor prefer cooler climates :-D
