Since I seem to be stuck in "crotchety mode" this week, I thought I'd share with you a brief list of things that suck. Feel free to add to the list.

  1. House cleaning
  2. Having a bank whose closest branch is 10 miles away
  3. Mid-life crises
  4. Forgetting to charge a cell phone
  5. The act of paying bills
  6. Broken dishwashers
  7. Sorting papers
  8. Running errands
  9. Never seeming to get done with the "chores" so you feel guilty about doing anything "fun"
  10. To-Do lists
Well, off to slog through some of my To-Do list.

This is what I have to accomplish today:
  1. Clean the house
  2. Run to my bank and cash in my CD before they roll it over
  3. Get back from the bank in time to pick up my brother from the train
  4. Pick up my brother from the train
  5. Make sure Voxkid is happily ensconced at a friend's house for the day
  6. Go to Dad's apartment and watch him and my brother pour over financial papers
  7. Take Dad out to lunch
  8. Take Dad to his bank to talk to a financial advisor and invest his money better than it is now
  9. Drop Dad off
  10. Wait for husband to get home from work
  11. Have dinner and perhaps something fun like a game with my family
  12. Watch some TV if we aren't passing out yet
  13. Go to bed
Well, at least item 13 has the potential for being enjoyable. It is so time for an afternoon at a day spa. I am getting very tired of spending my entire summer vacation being a taxi service. I haven't had a day to myself since school ended. I promise to stop being so cranky in the near future.

Update: I discovered in the middle of item 1 on my to do list that I can take care of item 2 with a phone call and a fax, which I have just done. Gives me a chance in hell to get #1 done before #4.

Update #2
: Well, brother went back to Manhattan because sister-in-law isn't feeling great and they won't be coming for dinner. The kid is at an amusement park with a girlfriend until after dinner, and hubby is still working.  So I revised my to-do list.

What sucks more than a broken dishwasher?

Not having one at all. At least Chris does most of the dishes. But we both hate doing them.

BTDT. For far too long. A dishwasher is a requirement in my house. Same as a bathtub big enough for me to soak in. But the repairman is coming tomorrow, so I'll be back to normal soon enough (it would have been yesterday or today, if I was going to be home, which I'm not).

Ironing!

The worst even chore devised by man.
:/

Oh, and lack of a dryer sucks as well.

Yes indeed! The only ironing I do at this point is when I'm quilting or sewing, and that's because it's part of the construction process. (and I sometimes need to heat-set fabric inks or paints, and I don't have one of those big t-shirt press thingies).

I don't even want to imagine life without a dryer. Although my elderly neighbor still hangs her laundry out to dry in the backyard.

11. Kitten with a bladder infection.

12. Having to constantly clean up after said kitty.
13. $300 for the "blood work" from the vet to determine that she has "crystals in her urine" and needs:
14. $75 for the meds to help treat said infection, and
15. $35 "Diet Kitten Food" for a bag about the size of a McDonald's Happy Meal...

*sighs*
