Well, I was uberbored this evening - voxSpouse is watching some terrible show or other (I think it's "Las Vegas"), so I updated the front page of my band site for the first time in months. I see more pages inside that need updating, too - the band members have completely changed since that snapshot. The only "surviving" members are the bass player and my husband - the rest have moved on to other projects that are more "happening". To be fair, we've only done one gig in the past year. And nowadays, I put together a "hired gun" ensemble when I have to play a gig, like the one coming up in October.

Work on the CD is progressing. I have some better mixes of some songs, but I still hear things that need tweaking. I fear that this is one of those things that you keep playing with until someone else rips it out of your hands and says "you're done!" The day job is really getting in the way - and this is "hell week" as it is... Tonight was my last free night until the weekend.

Tomorrow: final orchestra rehersal, Wednesday: daughter's play performance #1. Thursday, dinner with dad and inlaws and daughter's play performance #2 (My Fair Lady and she's in the chorus) Friday: Orchestra concert. At least that's in an air-conditioned space. The play, being performed in a middle school auditorium, is NOT air conditioned. I hope my dad survives the evening.

So anyway, here's my only slightly annoying banner for my new CD: if you're in the mood to dissemenate this ad, feel free... just link the gif to "http://www.musicforthegoddess.com" - word of mouth is going to be one of my main avenues of publicity, considering my marketing budget is numbered in the hundreds of dollars rather than the 5-10,000 it should be. Feh. I shouldn't complain - this CD is almost completely "fan financed" from my Adopt-A-Song program, and sales from the first CD.

I like the cd cover on Dance it Hecate. Nifty artwork. It kind of looks like an infared image, but in purple, if that makes any sense. Years ago I bought infared film for my 35mm camera and took a bunch pictures just for fun. I think i will try again. I could probably emulate infared digitatly with photoshop, a film project would keep me busy though. A busy lab rat is a safe lab rat.

I was playing with difference and multiply and possibly some edge thing (and the other strange layer settings) in photoshop to get most of that image. Otherwise the fence really blends into the background of the "regular" image - it's the same location as the banner picture (and I'm wearing the same stuff - the shawl looks really cool in the processed image as opposed to the "real" image). And I'm a big fan of purple and blue. :)

I haven't done any film work in years. And I sold off my darkroom a couple of months ago, too, so there's no hope of doing THAT again. I'll be getting rid of my film camera soon enough, too. Maybe I'll pick up a digital SLR with the proceeds - maybe not. We'll see.
