So I started going through Mom's papers
Jul. 5th, 2009 11:36 amand I found a folder full of "children's poetry" (ala Shel Silverstein), an unpublished and illustrated children's book mock up (the illustrations are watercolors by someone local to Mom that I don't know - and I have no idea about the deal she worked out with her), and some memorabilia, like covers for UK versions of her book, reviews, etc.
Backstory/sidestory - I am determined to resurrect my mother's author website, elizabethmansfield.com (which seemed to evaporate when her web host was purchased by another company - so I have to re-type all the pages I had originally done, darnit). At a minimum it is going to contain pictures of all her books, the "cover blurb", and availability for purchase (either links to amazon, or directly from me since I have dozens of copies of all her paperbacks).
Question: Should I publish her "unpublished works" online over a period of time (to get readership and renew interest in her books), or should I attempt to get these things published for real?
I still haven't fired up her old desktop machine to see what's on her hard drive. She's probably got one or 2 unfinished novels in there as well.
Also, any of you who may know of a charity auction (at a convention, maybe?) that might be interested in original manuscripts, let me know. Otherwise, they will be going to the recycling center by the end of the year.
