Ten Things I've Learned This Summer

- Cage the tomatoes when you plant them.
- Cucumbers need a trellis to grow on, or they will use whatever is closest to them (like other cucumbers or tomato plants).
- Squirrels like green tomatoes.
- Watching a student production of Les Miserables in an unairconditioned theater in chairs that are not designed for the woman with an "ample figure" makes the audience miserable, too.
- Watching 7 performances of Les Miz in 5 days doesn't improve sciatica.
- Watching 7 performances of Les Miz in one week followed by 6 performances of Cinderella in the same theater the following week doesn't improve sciatica, either.
- Neither does noticing that the other children's parents don't attend all the performances.
- Don't let mildew grow near the bedroom air-conditioner intake.
- Don't ever tell your boss that you have nothing to do
